Andre Keichian ’09, has been been selected as one of 12 studio artists in Atlanta to participate as a fellow in an innovative program initiated by wonderroot and The Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia. With a visionary long-term eye toward a flourishing Atlanta artist community, the premise of the Walthall fellowship (not named for a person, but for a street in east Atlanta) is the notion that investment in the creative individual will ensure a vibrant community. The fellowship is intentionally granted to a group of individuals, in the hopes that structured relationships among the fellows will sustain sound working studio relationships for each artist and her work, within and among the group of fellows, and ultimately with the community.
from atlanta planit website:
“Through a year of symposia, peer-learning, mentorship, a residency on Ossabaw Island and a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia, twelve artists will be equipped with the resources and relationships to have self-sustaining creative practices.”
